Stakeholder Consultation in Flanders Highlights Opportunities for Scaling Apartment Building Renovation
A stakeholder consultation (In Search of Viable Business Models) organized by Embuild Brussels as part of CondoReno project and brought together representatives from public authorities, financial institutions, technical experts and market actors involved in the renovation of apartment buildings in Flanders. Participants exchanged views on existing and emerging business models and assessed their feasibility, relevance and potential to accelerate integrated renovation projects.
The discussion highlighted that key challenges are closely linked to decision-making processes, financing, risk allocation, regulatory frameworks and the collective organisation required in multi-owner buildings. At the same time, stakeholders agreed that stronger collaboration between neutral facilitators, engineering and consultancy firms, contractors, financial institutions and property managers is essential to make large-scale renovation pathways more feasible and manageable.
The consultation provided valuable insights into the conditions needed to support faster and more effective renovation of apartment buildings, helping to identify promising approaches for future implementation and market uptake.
