Proof of concept based on 8 pilot projects 

The CondoReno project addresses one of the key challenges in Europe’s energy transition: the renovation of multi-apartment buildings owned by multiple private owners. These buildings face complex barriers, including fragmented decision-making, limited technical knowledge, financial constraints, and coordination challenges among stakeholders. 

To overcome these challenges, the project promotes Integrated Home Renovation Services (IHRS), also known as one-stop shops, which provide a single, trusted point of contact supporting condominium associations (CAs) throughout the entire renovation process, from planning to implementation. 

Within this context, this deliverable presents the proof of concept of IHRS, based on eight pilot projects implemented in Belgium (Flanders) and the Netherlands. These pilots serve as real-life test cases to validate tools, business models, and stakeholder collaboration approaches under different conditions, ensuring that IHRS solutions are both practical and scalable. 

The selected pilots were chosen to reflect a broad diversity of building types, sizes, ownership structures, and local contexts, allowing for a comprehensive assessment of challenges and opportunities across the condominium sector.  

The Pilots 

The eight pilot projects are distributed across Antwerp, Mechelen, and Ostend (Belgium), and the Netherlands, and cover a wide range of real-life situations, from small condominiums to very large and complex buildings.
