CondoReno at the UIPI Renovation Tour in Prague
On 20 March 2025 the UIPI Renovation Tour made its eighth stop in Prague. UIPI and OSMD brought together nearly 100 property owners, policymakers, and construction experts to discuss the challenges and opportunities of building renovation in Czechia.
With a particular focus on Prague’s historical properties, the event highlighted the structural, regulatory, and financial barriers that property owners face, as well as the upcoming implementation of the EPBD, which will serve as a major stress test for the sector. Skilled labour shortages and a lack of tailored support for historic buildings were also identified as key obstacles, while financial support remains available but difficult to navigate.
Despite these challenges, the discussions underscored the potential of existing solutions such as one-stop shops, local innovation clusters, and energy communities to facilitate progress. However, stronger national and local support is needed to ensure these initiatives can be fully deployed and effectively benefit property owners.
CondoReno took the stage during the afternoon workshops to showcase the one-stop shop models the project is developing in the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). The speech was followed by a Q and A with the public that discussed the feasibility of replicating such models in the Czech context.
Co-funded by EU-projects CondoReno, Craft and BuildUPspeed and organised by UIPI and OSMD CZ, the Renovation Tour was a unique opportunity to bring the European Commission’s climate goals closer to EU citizens and property owners, by steering locally relevant political debates and proposing practical solutions from existing European and local initiatives.
